Tian Lipu meets with Vice Director of EPO

On July 28, Director of China's State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) Tian Lipu had an interview with Vice Director of European Patent Office (EPO) Wim van der Eijk and his entourage in Beijing. They exchanged views on mutual cooperation.
Tian thought highly of the cooperation between SIPO and EPO, which is a successful example of international IP sponsoring agencies. He pointed out, IPR system is a globalized system from early period, which demands that we must understand and look at the pushing role of IPR system to economic and social development from the global perspective. And IPR system can play an important role in dealing with a number of issues brought about by economic globalization.
And Tian also stressed that SIPO and EPO have long-term and good relation of cooperation and hoped that both sides will further strengthen exchanges and cooperation in all areas.
Wim van der Eijk expressed admiration for the development of China's IPR system and patent cause. He said, the cooperation of two parties has great significance to the development of global patent collaboration and the whole patent system. He hoped to team up with Chinese counterpart to meet the needs of economic development.
