In order to ensure the sound and sustained development of the “world’s longest economic corridor with most development potential”, Gansu People’s Government decides to set up a leading group on establishment of an international IPR harbor for the Silk Road and accelerate the compilation and approval of the establishment plan. The establishment of the international IPR harbor for the Silk Road marks the preemptive action taken by Gansu in terms of international IPR protection along the Silk Road.
Reportedly, the establishment of an international IPR harbor for the Silk Road advances simultaneously with the technical innovation and reform of Lanzhou - Baiyin Pilot Zone. Over three years of construction, the Lanzhou-Baiyin Pilot Zone, as the regional innovation pattern of demonstrative and driving features, has been explored and initially formed. A 100-billion-yuan petrochemical industrial chain and a 10-billion-yuan industrial chain of biomedicine and aerospace have come into being. The value-added strategic and emerging industries within the zone accounts for 11.41% of GDP and the number of new technical MSMEs totals 1,076 and the new platforms of technical innovation numbers 137. The transformation and transfer of scientific and technical achievements is continuously improving. So far, every 10,000 persons in the Pilot Zone hold 27.58 patents and the annual volume of technical contract has reached 2.73 billion yuan.
