On March 7, the first meeting of the Central and South America Intellectual Property Group (IPG) was held in Sao Paulo, Brazil. In the meeting, Mr. Yamashita, Director-General of the Fourth Patent Examination Department, delivered a congratulatory address for the holding of the meeting and introduced initiatives of the Japan Patent Office (JPO). He also exchanged opinions with participants on the future activities of the Central and South America IPG and other topics. On March 9, Director-General Yamashita visited the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) of Brazil and exchanged opinions on the initiatives promoted by each office. The JPO will continue to consider and promote efforts in the Central and South America, including Brazil, based on the opinions obtained through these meetings.
