2018 Director General Conference of National IPO Held in Beijing
On January 4, 2018 Director General Conference of National IPO was Held in Beijing. Shen Changyu, the commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) reviewed the progress of IP work especially in 2017 since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (NCCPC), in the report titled "Deepen the Implementation of the Spirit of the 19th NCCPC to Create a New Situation on the Reform and Development of IP Undertaking in the New Era" . According to the report, the number of patent applications reached 1,382,000 in 2017, increased by 14.2% from the same period last year, and 744,000 cases were concluded. Shen Changyu also mapped out the works of various national intellectual property departments from six aspects in 2018.

The Number of China's Patent Application Has Reached 2.4 Times That of the United States Since 2015
According to the statistics of five global intellectual property administration office, since 2015, the number of China's patent application has been 2.4 times that of the United States. At the same time, China is applying more patents in Europe and the United States. In 2015, China’s 8116 patent application had gain approval in the United States, accounting for 3% of the total number of U.S. patents granted, and it ranked five in overseas countries (it only ranked fifteen in 2007), which ranked higher than that of Britain and France. While Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, which ranked ahead China, are export-led economies. This not only shows that China's technical force is on the rise, but Chinese companies have made strategic preparation for entering the U.S. market in some industries.

The Value Added of China's Copyright Industry Has Accounted for 7.33% of GDP in 2016
Recently, Chinese Academy of Press and Publication released the survey?results of the economic contribution of China's copyright industry in 2016. As the survey shows, the value added of China's copyright industry was 545.46 billion Yuan in 2016, a year-on-year increase of 9.0% (not deducting the price factor). The share of GDP was 7.33 percent, up 0.03 percentage points from the last year. The share China's copyright industry has steadily increased in the national economy, and its overall scale has been further expanded.

The Overseas Patent Layout Ability of Chinese Enterprises Dramatically Enhanced
It is known from the State Intellectual Property of the P.R.C (SIPO) that as more Chinese enterprises go global, China has carried out a lot of measures to provide convenience for overseas patent application and rights protection of Chinese enterprises. More and more Chinese enterprises focus on safeguarding their overseas rights through patent layout. In the first half of 2017, the number of PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) international patent applications submitted by Chinese applicants through SIPO was 20,000, with a year-on-year growth of 15.3%. According to the Report on 2016 PCT International Patent Applications released by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Zhongxing Telecommunication Equipment Corporation (ZTE) ranked the top with 4,123 PCT international patent applications. And Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd (Huawei) ranked the second, recording 3,692 PCT international patent applications.
