Mobike Finally Wins in Patent Dispute Case with Lingyun Technology
On December 12, the patent infringement case of Mobike “Scan the code to unlock” comes to the end in which Shenzhen Lingyun Technology Co., Ltd. (Lingyun Technology) has actively withdrawn the request and Beijing Mobike Technology Co, Ltd (Mobike) won finally. On March 3, Lingyun Technology submitted handling request of patent infringement dispute to Beijing IP Court, claiming that Mobike has infringed its invention patent of “authorized device and method of Internet Door control for temporary users” and requested Beijing IP Court order Mobike to stop infringement. Recently this dispute finally was settled. The original plan that Beijing IP Court organized the second oral trial has been canceled because the plaintiff Lingyun Technology put forward to withdraw the litigation.
19th Ceremony for Award for Chinese Patented Invention & Industrial Design Concludes Successfully
On December 13, the 19th Ceremony for Award for Chinese Patented Invention & Industrial Design, jointly hosted by SIPO and WIPO, was held in Beijing. Total 25 gold awards were granted, including 20 for Chinese patented inventions and 5 for Chinese industrial designs. 870 honorable mentions were granted, with 802 for Chinese patented invention, 68 for Chinese industrial design. Relevant products or engineering projects of the 25 gold award patents have generated great profits from the date patent implementation to the end of 2016, with new sales of 93.9 billion yuan, newly increased profits of 9.6 billion yuan and newly export sales of 24.4 billion yuan.
Chinese Breeders Easily to Apply for Protection on International Variety Rights
On November 15, international application platform for plant variety right was launched in Beijing. On January 2017, International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV) established electronic application system of plant variety rights (PRISMA). It is known that China issued Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Protection of New Varieties of Plants in 1997 and joined UPOV on April 23, 1999. The applications for new variety rights of plants witness a constant increase over the past 20 years. The number of applications in 2016 reached near 3,000, stably ranking the first among UPOV member states.
Official Emblems for Beijing 2022 Winter Games Unveiled
The emblems of the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, respectively named "Winter Dream" and "Flying High," were unveiled during the emblem launch ceremony for the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Bejing, December 15. With its origin in the Chinese character "dong" (winter), the Olympic emblem integrates the spirit of Chinese calligraphy and eastern cultural heritage with a modern, global style. Through an artistic rendering, it represents a new image of and dream for China. The Paralympic emblem, featuring an athlete-centered concept, also combines Chinese calligraphy and Paralympic winter sports. Oriented around the Chinese character "fei" (flight), the emblem is an abstract image of an athlete who is fighting for victory, highlighting the spirit of and inspiration for the Paralympic Winter Games.
