China's Total Trademark Applications Expected to Reach 5 Million in 2017

In the first half of 2017, China’s trademark applications totaled 2.27 million, an increase of 30.81% over the same period of last year. It is expected that the total number this year will reach 5 million. As of June this year, the number of valid registered trademarks in Mainland of China had reached 53.45 million, equivalent to that every seven market entities hold one registered trademark. Starting from 2005, China has been ranking the first in the Madrid system with 22,314 applications. Statistics show that the trademark applications of Chinese enterprises in other countries have totaled over 300,000. In the first half of this year, 130,000 law-violating trademark-related cases were handled at a value of 140 million RMB.
