Seminar on Guangdong-HK-Macao IP Laws held

A two-day long Seminar on Guangdong-HK-Macao Intellectual Property Laws was unveiled in Hong Kong on June 26, with the participation of many legal scholars and experts from the mainland of China, Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR.
At the seminar, they discussed legal issues relating to intellectual property in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao.
Vice Chairman of China Law Society Hu Zhong expressed that along with the integration of economy in Pearl River Delta region, cooperation between the above-mentioned sides in the field of intellectual property will be strengthened as well.
The seminar focuses on how to overcome the differences in IP legal systems and deal with IP-concerned disputes, effectively combating cross-border infringements, enhancing civil and commercial judicial assistance, and other topics.
At present, the IP management and law enforcement departments of the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao have set up IP cooperative mechanism, exchanged IP-related information, jointly launched enforcement actions, pushed commitments of small and middle-sized enterprises on using genuine goods, co-conducted topic researches, held all kinds of seminars, etc., Hu added.
Mr. Gu Minkang, Deputy Dean of School of Law under the City University of Hong Kong, told the reporter, this seminar offers a platform to get legal experts from mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao together, and exchanged views on controversial issues in IP-related legal existence.
He also hoped that the participating experts may raise suggestions and reach consensus in the end, to help legislation and the correction of relevant laws.
