5th Joint Meeting on Pan-Pearl River Delta Regional IP Affairs opens

On June 11, the 5th Joint Meeting on Pan-Pearl River Delta Regional IP Affairs and the 4th Forum was launched in Nanning, capital of southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, with the attendance of over 100 deputies from China's Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan provinces, and Hong Kong and Macao SARs.
Vice Secretary of Party Committee of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Chen Zhangliang, and Head of Discipline Inspection Group of Central Commission for Discipline Inspection stationed in the State Intellectual Property Office Xiao Xingwei attended and addressed the opening ceremony.
In his address, Chen Zhangliang pointed out that intellectual property cooperation in the Pan-Pearl River Delta region (PPRD) has become China's first cross-departmental and regional connection, collaboration and working platform in the field of intellectual property.
And its establishment pushes the favorable interaction among provinces and SARs of the PPRD, boosts complementary advantage between the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao, and realizes new model of regional coordinated development. Under joint efforts of all parties, the cooperation work has gained obvious effects.
In the meantime, Xiao Xingwei stressed in his speech that, being faced with the daily growing economic globalization and the trend of regional economic cooperation, strengthening Pan-Pearl River Delta regional cooperation including IP cooperation is extremely important for enhancing the overall regional strength and competitiveness and promoting regional economic and social science development.
During the forum, six experts and scholars from Hunan, Guangdong, Hainan, Yunnan, Guizhou and Guangxi respectively delivered speeches from many angles like regional cooperation, well-known trademark protection, traditional knowledge protection, geographical indication protection and patent default permission protection, concentrating on the theme of "Implementing IP Strategy and Promoting Regional Independent Innovation and Economic Development."
In addition, a total of 41 papers were collected by the organizing committee of the forum, and piled up into the Collected Works of the 4th Forum on Pan-Pearl River Delta Regional IP Cooperation.
Also at the forum, deputies reported the situation of carrying out IP work in their provinces or SARs and the advancement of cooperative projects undertaken by them. And after negotiation, all participants reached a consensus on multilateral cooperation in the future.
