The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which is in a win-win situation following their victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, is all set ready to strengthen its base in the district as well as the State.
AAP district convener Shailendrakumar Patil told presspersons here on Tuesday that the AAP district units would launch a massive membership drive in the State shortly. A procession will be taken out from Kala Bhavan that would pass through the main streets of the city, to mark the launch of membership (on January 5, 11 a.m.). The party office will be inaugurated at 2 p.m. People will also be able to apply for membership online.
A booth would be opened in colleges to attract youth to join AAP. A helpline would be set up in 15 days for the general public. In addition, a website has also been designed that elaborates on the party’s activities. So far, 1,500 people have applied, he added.
Teams have been formed to encourage party workers and to strengthen the party at the taluk and village levels, in anticipation of the coming Lok Sabha polls.
Mr. Patil said the AAP’s victory in Delhi had not only boosted the spirit of the party workers here but also swayed public opinion in favour of the party. Those who wish to see changes in the system but were fed up with opportunism by different political parties began seeing a new race of hope in AAP.
The youth’s interest in the party is a good sign, and will certainly help strengthen the AAP on the district and State levels.
