Lin'an, a city in Zhejiang province, saw its patent applications hit 3,222 in the first ten months this year, growing by 39.72%. It is the first time for the city’s patent filings to surpass 3,000. Among all the filings, those on inventions amounted to 289, increasing by 7.8% on a year-on-year basis, and ranking the first place among the other four counterparts in the province.
This year, IP authorities in the city have attached great importance to the development of intellectual property rights and conducted a series of activities to promote the first-ever patent application by entities.
To name a few, several training courses were delivered to enterprises, while patent practitioners and relevant departments provided assistance on site. An official from the authorities said that positive strategies would be used to guide local enterprises in filing their first-ever patents and most enterprises would be encouraged to file their first-ever patent applications by the end of 2013.
