A number of intellectual property experts held lectures in the city of Karamay, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, on Oct 30, pulling in 87 patent management staff from 42 local large and medium-sized enterprises.
One of the experts is Ha Hongjiang, director of the legal affairs office of the Xinjiang Intellectual Property Bureau. He explained the patent application process, related laws and regulations, and intellectual property case studies.
Ha introduced that in recent years, friction related with intellectual property rights in China's foreign trade has become increasingly prominent, which is a huge challenge for China.
He went on to say that it is of vital importance that Karamay companies learn how to apply for patents and protect their rights when their patents are infringed.
According to statistics, an increasing number of Karamay corporations are applying for patents. In 2012, 523 companies submitted intellectual property rights applications. By November 2013, the number surpassed 400.
