Yima, a city under the jurisdiction of Sanmenxia, is pinning its hopes on the high-tech industry and innovation to upgrade its industries and boost its overall economic development.
Henan Kaixiang Chemical, based in Yima, recently won four patents granted by the State Intellectual Property Office. The patents further elevated the company's technology capacity and served as a boost to the city's high-tech strategy.
According to the city's high-tech development plan, its added-value in the high-tech industry will maintain an annual growth rate of 25 percent. Its high-tech added-value will also account for more than 20 percent of the city's total industrial added-value in the 12th Five-Year Plan.
In recent years, the city has pushed high-tech projects and boosted the high-tech industry.
Yima-based Henan Yi Teng New Energy Technology Co recently launched the third phase of its lithium battery diaphragm project. Its new production line, which is able to manufacture 36 million square meters of high-performance high-temperature-resistant three-layer ceramic coated diaphragms a year for electric vehicle batteries, has been put into operation. Its products helped put an end to the technology and market monopoly by US and Japanese manufacturers.
Kaixiang Chemical Co is the largest coal chemical company in Asia. It plans to increase its revenues to 35 billion yuan ($5.72 billion) in three to five years through the application of new and high technologies, and to construct the company into a leading high-tech coal chemical industrial base in Henan province and the country.
In recent years, the new and high-tech industry has developed quickly in Sanmenxia, a major city in western Henan.
In the first half of the year, total output value of the new and high-tech industry in the city amounted to 7.36 billion yuan, a growth of 28.6 percent from a year earlier. The added-value of the industry reached 2.26 billion yuan, an increase of 29.3 percent year-on-year. In this period, 66 new and high-tech projects were launched.
Sanmenxia has set up 33 provincial-level engineering R&D centers and 21 provincial-level corporate R&D centers.
