Suntech Power Holdings Co. Ltd., the world's largest photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturer, announced in a press release that it has been granted preliminary injunctions in Germany against "Suntech Power Holding (Hongkong) Co. Ltd.", which is unrelated to Suntech Power Holdings Co. Ltd, and two identified distributors.
The preliminary injunctions prohibit the Hong Kong based company and its distributors from distributing products that are branded "Suntech".
"While there have only been isolated cases of unrelated companies offering imitation products, we are determined to proactively protect our customers' interests and the integrity of the Suntech brand by vigorously pursuing companies that seek to unlawfully profit from the Suntech brand or produce imitation products," Suntech's Chairman and CEO Dr. Zhengrong Shi said.
"Due to our stringent quality control programs, Suntech solar products offer industry leading power output guarantees and frequently exceed project performance targets. They have also been utilized in many of the world's largest and highest profile PV solar projects,” he added.
“We are proud of this record and will employ all legal resources available to defend the integrity of the Suntech brand," Shi concluded.
