International patent filings in Xiamen accounting for 60% in Fujian

In 2012, invention patents in force in Xiamen, one of China's intellectual property demonstration cities at national level, amounted to 2,627, up 40.6%, with every ten thousand residents in the city holding 7.16 such patents. Meanwhile, patent applications in the city last year accounted for 59.02% of the total filings in Fujian province.

In recent years, Xiamen stimulated local entities to protect their ideas by rendering subsidies. From October 2011 to September 2012, a total of 5,578 patent applications were offered10,351,400 yuan worth of subvention. Patent owners having their inventions registered would also get awards.

Furthermore, the city has cultivated a batch of 28 intellectual property exemplary enterprises to date, 16 of which are at national level.
