Anhui has achieved substantial accomplishments in intellectual property protection in 2012.
As indicated in a report on evaluating innovative edge of provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) in China, Anhui has jumped from the 15th to the 9th in 2012 and ranked the 1st among provinces in Central China. As an important indicator on assessing innovative capacity, the growth rate of invention patent grants in the province climbed to the 4th place in China with its invention patent application growth rate ranking the 1st across the country.
In 2012, there were a total of 43,321 patents issued in Anhui, ranking the 7th and the 1st across the nation and in Central China, up 32.6% on a year-on-year basis, in which 3,066 were on inventions, increasing by 51.3%, fully fulfilling the annual goal. Invention patent grants, in particular, broke 1,000, 2,000 and 3,000 in three successive years since 2010.
Eight patents owned by Chery Automobile Co., Ltd won golden prizes in Anhui’s first Patent Award Ceremony and nineteen patents of China MCC17 Group Co., Ltd obtained excellent prizes. All these patents have generated 34.88 billion yuan sales revenue with 5.85 billion yuan profits to date. Moreover, nine patents in the province have won prizes in the 14th China Patent Award.
The province rendered up to 16.262 million yuan as special funds last year, growing by 58.7%. The provincial IP authority required its local agencies to scientifically allocate the funds, take issued invention patents as a priority and invest more in patent enforcement and commercialization.
Wuhu, a city in Anhui province, was identified as one of the first 23 national intellectual property demonstration cities.
In special campaigns against intellectual property violations, IP authorities handled a total of 162 patent cases, two times more than that of last year, in which 80% were concluded. With the help of China (Anhui) IPR Aid Center, enterprises have avoided one billion yuan worth of economic losses.
The province has invested 1.6 million yuan in commercializing patented technologies held by eight enterprises and conducted investigations on patent industrialization in strategic new emerging sectors such as electronic information and automobiles driven by new energy.
2,033 representatives from more than 2,000 local enterprises teamed up to explore new approaches to intellectual property rights protection. Three cities including Hefei, Wuhu and Bengbu in the province carried out pilot programs on corporate IPR trusteeship.
Patent-collateralized loans hit 200 million yuan, nearly double that of last year. Bengbu was selected as one of national IP pledged financing pilot cities and Hefei and Bengbu joined the national pilot program on patent insurance.
In 2012, 68 candidates passed the exams of patent agents, 2.6 times more than that of last year. Anhui Patent Service Center and Anhui (Chizhou) IPR Training Base were both put in place.
