Sichuan: Patent applications in the high-tech zone in Chengdu breaking 10,000

From January to November this year, patent applications in the high-tech zone in Chengdu, capital city of Sichuan province, hit 10,107, increasing by 39% on a year-on-year basis and accounting for 22.5% of the total patent applications in the province, 12.9 times the number filed in the year when the zone submitted its candidacy  for the municipal pilot program of IP demonstration park.

The quality of patent applications in the first eleven months has been significantly increased. Invention patent applications recorded 3,591, up 59% and taking up 33% of the total in the city. Enterprises submitted 8,857 patent filings, up 60% and accounting for 34% of the total in the city.

Financing difficulties of technology-based companies were partly resolved through cooperation with financial agencies for patent collateralized loans.

Twelve local companies got three Gold Prizes, two Silver Prizes and seven Prizes of Excellence of 2011 Chengdu Patent Award. Moreover, two companies including Sobey won China Patent Award of Excellence in its 14th annual appraisal.
