As of the end of November, patent applications and grants in Yinchuan, capital city of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, reached 1,064 and 448, increasing by 111% and 43.6% and accounting for 63.8% and 61% of the total in the region, in which, invention patent applications and grants hit 439 and 97, growing by 106% and 51.6% respectively.

In a bid to stimulate the enthusiasm of local enterprises in filing invention patent applications, the city has allocated a special fund of 1.35 million yuan as award for applicants. Yinchuan-based enterprises submitting five, ten and fifteen invention patent applications within a year will be rewarded with 30,000 yuan, 60,000 yuan and 100,000yuan respectively. This year, 950,000 yuan worth of awards were granted to qualified local enterprises and 400,000 yuan worth of subsidies were released to invention patent applicants.
