As of the end of November, Shanxi book and audiovisual electronic publishing units have output 75 copyrighted works and input 14 ones, realizing a trade surplus for six consecutive years. 

Meanwhile, publishing units are increasingly cooperating with the United States, Russia, England, France, Belgium, in addition to former cooperative partners in southeast Asian countries and regions. On the 19th Beijing International Book Fair, Shanxi publishing units signed 54 agreements with publishers from over 20 countries and regions including America, Russia, England and Korea, output 53 items, input one and reached 49 cooperative intents.

After years of efforts, some Shanxi publishing units have accumulated rich experience and formed self features and brand effects, such as the social science books published by Shanxi People's Publishing House, TCM and martial arts books by Shanxi Science and Technology Press, and books for children by Hope Publishing House. In 2012, "The World Gains and Losses" by Shanxi People's Publishing House, "How Parents to Say to Children" by Shanxi Education Press and "Goodbye" by Hope Publishing House, as representatives of a group of fine edition publications, aroused widespread interest at home and abroad.
