According to statistics released by the State Intellectual Property Office, from January to September, patent applications in Ya'an reached 351, up 81%, successfully fulfilling and exceeding the annual target of 301.

Of all those applications, invention patent applications amounted to 112, up 23%; 162 applications were approved, up 47%; 157 applications were filed by enterprises, soaring by 131% and accounting for 45% of the total, which indicated that enterprises have played an increasingly important role in creating scientific and technological innovations and have become the mainstay of promoting economic development mode transfer, industrial structure adjustment and indigenous innovation.

This year, Ya'an has taken several steps including conducting dissemination, delivering training courses, bringing in intermediary agencies, formulating Interim Measures on Managing Funds for Patent Application and Commercialization to stimulate the enthusiasm of enterprises in creation, which resulted in the increment of the quantity and the improvement of the quality of local patent applications.
