Liaoning: Dalian approved as national IPR demonstration city

On September 5, the reporter learnt from Dalian Science and Technology Bureau that Dalian City was seen on the list of the first batch of national IPR demonstration city.

Since many years ago, Dalian’s invention patent applications, grants and valid invention patents all topped the cities in Northeast China. In 2011, applications for invention patents hit 7,418 pieces and granted patents reached 1,116 pieces, rising by 84% and 48%, respectively. Invention patents for each ten thousand people outnumbered 5.

Meanwhile, the technology traction amount in Dalian surpassed ten billion yuan with an increase of 43%. Many patented technologies and achievements won national, provincial and city awards. Besides, the patent components in the city were further optimized. The proportion of invention patents hit 46% of the gross and the proportion of service inventions from enterprises and public institutions rose to 70%.

It is informed that the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) will give more support to IPR demonstration cities in patent creation, use and protection in a bid to fully exert the leading role of these cities.
