In a bid to provide better service to enterprises in car industry, Chongqing plans to set up an IP protection center to speed up the protection process.

In the first half of 2012, local enforcement authorities filed a total of 4,060 cases, transferred 34 cases to judicial organs, and destroyed 262 illicit lairs. Those moves helped purify the market environment.

For the next phase of work, a senior official of local IP authority said that on the one hand, the city will promote the coordination of enforcement and judicial departments; on the other hand, enforcement mechanisms will be further improved.

Normally, a design application needs two or three months to be approved, but through a new platform of the IP protection center, a design application may be digitally granted within a week and its applicant may get a written patent certification within a month.
