2012/07/23

In a report on international intellectual property situations delivered to the patent department under the State Intellectual Property Office, deputy commissioner Li Yuguang noted that in post-crisis era with heated international competition, intellectual property turns to be a strong drive for economic growth. Thus all countries consistently take IP strategies into account.

After the global economic crisis, every country endeavors to spur economic growth by creating innovations. Countries and regions such as the European Union and the United States have launched a series of promotion strategies on innovation. In this context, the role intellectual property rights played in promoting national green development and economic growth is more revealing. Given an intellectual property system not only is used to protect innovative fruits, but also helps to retain a nation’s economic sovereignty, countries all over the world strive to speed up the establishment and implementation of intellectual property strategies, said Li.

Li added that China needs to further step up the implementation of its IP strategies in a bid to enhance its core competitiveness and be more competent in international contest.
