Lianyungang has seen a dramatically rapid economic growth in recent years, when its trademark applications have simultaneously soared to more than 9,000 with an average annual growth rate of 15 percent. Trademark applications in the city are expected to exceed ten thousand by the end of this year with such great momentum.

The quality of trademarks has been considerably improved and the competitive edge of local enterprises has been sharpened which could be proved by the fact that the city has held a total of four Chinese Well-known Trademarks, 87 Jiangsu Famous Trademarks and 240 Lianyungang Notable Trademarks.

The important role played by those valuable trademarks in bolstering up economic development and increasing entities' core competitiveness is more revealing. Take Jiangsu Taige Printing Ink Co., Ltd., one of the leading local companies, for example. Its brand has been widely known in its industry. The company's chairman attributes the successful development of his entity partially to the constant implementation of trademark strategies, which help the company build its excellent reputation.

Last year, the city issued several opinions in a bid to cultivate potential entities to apply for more famous trademarks. An award of 20,000 yuan, 200,000 yuan and 500,000 yuan will be rendered to notable, famous and well-known trademark owners respectively. Besides filing trademark applications, enterprises are also encouraged to enhance the protection of their trademarks.
