Tian Lipu visited DIP of Thailand

Recently, the Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) Tian Lipu led a delegation to pay a working visit to the Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) of Thailand and signed a Cooperative Action Plan on Intellectual Property Development from 2012 to 2013.

When talking with Ms. Pajchima Thanasanti, Head of the DIP, Tian said that Thailand is a friendly neighbor of China and the friendship between the peoples in the two countries has a long history. Over the past years, the two sides have maintained frequent exchanges and close cooperation in fields such as politics, economy, trade, science and technology, as well as culture. In the area of intellectual property, under the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Patent signed by the two offices in 1995, the two sides have maintained good relations of cooperation and developed bilateral cooperation programs on a regular basis, which helps stabilize the sustainable development between the two countries in promoting intellectual property protection. Tian also lauded the accomplishments achieved and measures taken by the Thais in intellectual property strategies implementation and law enforcement.

Ms. Pajchima Thanasanti noted that China and Thailand have close ties and the bilateral cooperative relationship in intellectual property has been established for a long time, which is really appreciated and cherished. She also hoped the two sides could further the cooperation and enhance the exchanges in this regard in the future.

The two sides also exchanged ideas and reached consensus on issues including IP protection and enforcement, national IP strategies implementation, IP commercialization, talent training and document sharing.

During the visit, Tian looked into enterprises featuring local traditional knowledge and geographical indications, and also met and communicated with representatives from local business chambers.
