China combating violations of new tree variety rights

2012/06/18

In a bid to enhance the right protection and law enforcement, Hebei Provincial Administration for Forestry has conducted a special campaign on combating violations of new tree variety rights which will last until the end of this November.

The campaign will be divided into two phases with the first one looking into violators before the end of June. The second phase will focus on conducting initiatives tackling infringing cases from July to November. Cases concluded in the campaign will be publicized on government portal websites for public consultation.

During the period, the administration will further establish and improve law enforcement organs and mechanisms on new tree varieties, and will also strengthen related dissemination and education. Meanwhile, the authority will explore a permanent enforcement mechanism by launching pilot enforcement projects in some areas. Furthermore, a linkage between administrative enforcement and criminal justice will be gradually established by document sharing of the two sectors.
