In a bid to commemorate China's seventh National Cultural Heritage Day on June 9, Qinghai Provincial Administration for Culture, Press and Publication initiated rich and colorful dissemination activities on intangible cultural heritage projects at the Central Square in Xining, capital city of Qinghai province.
At the event, the administration used display boards to illustrate new progress made in ICH protection in latest years, and invited seven inheritors to present their arts and crafts on site. Meanwhile, consummate artists of traditional operas and music were organized to give a live performance in the square, which allowed the public to enjoy the captivating charm of those heritages.
Since the ICH protection was initiated in 2003, the province has achieved substantial accomplishments in this regard. Currently, four projects are inscribed in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and another 64 projects and 86 projects are respectively incorporated into the national and provincial ICH lists. Besides, Qinghai has 40 and 159 national and provincial inheritors separately. Three national ICH protection demonstration bases are established in the province.
