The 11th Chinese Patent and New High-Tech Products Expo (CPNPE) will be co-hosted by authorities including the State Intellectual Property Office, the Ministry of Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering and Shandong Provincial People's Government in Jining, a city in Shandong province, in late June.

An official from the Patent Department of the SIPO stated that the exposition themed "Innovation, Cooperation and Development" will focus on issues including the connection between patents and financing. By displaying patent fruits and holding high-level forums on patent-collateralized financing, the exposition aims to promote the collaboration of stakeholders and to attract more excellent patent fruits, capital investment and talents to gather in the event.

The exposition this year plans to cover an exhibition area of 40,000 square meters with 1,200 international standard booths and 60 special booths, the ever largest one in its history.

Furthermore, the exposition will be supported by the Association of Experts Joining in the "Thousand Person Plan" for the first time, and those experts’ innovations as well as the achievements honored in the National Science and Technology Award are said to be displayed at the fair. In addition, the event will conduct several activities including a promotion of new high-tech fruits, an IPR trading fair and a forum for academicians.

Under the guidance of the SIPO and in full consideration of local scenario, many pilot projects on patent collateralized financing have yielded great success. In 2011, as many as 1,953 patents were used as collateral to secure nine billion yuan worth of financing, up 28% and hitting a new high record in recent three years.
