Qingdao to boost IPR protection in strategic emerging industries

Vice Mayor of Qingdao City Wang Guangzheng attended and addressed a workshop convened recently to promote the development and protection of intellectual property rights in local strategic emerging industries.

At the meeting, attendees carefully studied the guiding principles of the Notice of the General Office of the State Council on Forwarding the Opinions of the State Intellectual Property Office and Other Departments on Enhancing the Intellectual Property Rights Protection in Strategic Emerging Industries, and made the next phase arrangement for IP undertaking.

Officials from Qingdao Science and Technology Bureau and Qingdao Municipal Intellectual Property Office participated in the meeting.

Wang said in his keynote speech delivered at the meeting that IPR protection plays an important role in cultivating and developing strategic emerging industries. Therefore, local authorities are urged to attach great importance to this regard. He noted that the above Notice calls for a quick response to launch special patent projects, an immediate action to make IP incentives, a seminar to strengthen the capability of creators in exploiting IP systems to defend rights, and a series of supportive measures to create a sound legal environment for strategic emerging industries.
