The special action group in fight of manufacture and sales of counterfeits in Zhongshan City of Guangdong Province told media the group seized a batch of counterfeit brands including POLO, adidas, TOMMY and LACSTE in Shaxi Town.
The group seized a collection of counterfeit clothes bearing POLO, adidas, TOMMY or LACSTE trademark in a business place located in Shaxi Town. It was found finished articles totaled 1,297 and semi-finished articles totaled 7,092.
The workshop engaged in counterfeiting has been closed down. "It is a typical counterfeiting and trademark infringing case. We will thoroughly investigate the distribution of the counterfeit clothes and the producer of such trademark labels so as to cut off the 'profit chain' of brand counterfeiting," said an official from the group.
Shaxi Town is famous for casual clothing production. It now accommodates over 2,400 garment enterprise, 139 of which are enterprises above designated size. In 2011, the total value of industrial output reached 25.5 billion yuan and clothing industry alone contributed 16.5 billion yuan.
