Chongqing has adopted diverse measures to promote IPR development in local enterprises and achieved initial progress.
The city has assisted 21 institutions and entities in formulating and implementing patent strategies. In 2011, local enterprises won five Golden Prizes and 15 Honorable Mentions in China Patent Award event. Holding 1,308 patents, CCAG sold 705,000 motor cars of six series with sales revenue of 22.09 billion yuan.
Of all the 230 IPR demonstration enterprises, 99% have formulated their own IPR regulation systems, 75% have built patent data bases in relevant areas and 55% each have held more than 100 valid patents. In addition, three enterprises each owning over 1,000 valid patents and ten enterprises each holding 500 patents are duly cultivated.
A patent alliance of pharmaceutical equipment industry is set up to formulate industry norms so as to push the standardization process of technology industry. Take Chongqing Shanwaishan Science and Technology Co., Ltd. as an example, it has used its core patents to formulate two national standards and three industry standards; it saw a over 50% rise in sales revenues for three years in a row; in 2011, its sales revenue hit 189 million yuan with net profit and tax reaching 76.43 million yuan.
Furthermore, Chongqing has used patents to facilitate local enterprises to carry out “going-out” strategy, reviewed patent status in 200-odd enterprises, investigated patented products in 100 major export enterprises, and guided ten enterprises to file patent applications overseas. For instance, 80% of patented products in Long Xin Group generated 95% of profits. Li Fan Group has filed 7,605 patent applications in 47 countries and regions with 6,594 being granted.
