Guangdong: Patents per 10 thousand people are 2.3 times the national average

The main activities of Guangdong Science and Technology Progress Activity Month started in Mid May and will end in Mid June, and some activities will last to the end of this year, news from the press conference jointly held by Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Department, Provincial Party Committee Propaganda Department and Provincial Science and Technology Association. It is reported patents per 10 thousand people are 2.3 times the national average.

In 2011, the comprehensive power of science and technology in Guangdong ranked the top in the country; regional innovation capacity ranked 4th for 4th consecutive year; innovation performance ranked 1st. Technical self-sufficiency rate rose to 66.8%. The research funding exceeded 100 billion yuan in 2011. R & D investment accounted for 1.85% of GDP. In addition, patent applications and grants in Guangdong reached 52,012 and 18,242, increasing by 27.3% and 33.2% and ranking 2nd and 1st in the country. Patents per 10 thousand people are 5.6, 2.3 times the national average.
