Recently, the working groups in charge of eliminating pornography and illegal publications of both Chengdu city and Sichuan province have conducted a barrage of activities including the destruction of pirated and illegal publications and a signing ceremony entitled "Bearing Green Bookmarks and Protecting IPR".
Statistics show that the province has destroyed more than 1.62 million pirated items during the initiatives.
In 2011, copyright authorities in the province undertook campaigns combating IPR violations and counterfeiting in communities, schools and enterprises, proactively established public service platforms to distribute copyrighted works and assisted enterprises to set up copyright protecting systems.
According to incomplete statistics, last year, the province dispatched enforcement officials for 9,063 person-times, investigated 20.404 thousand entities including wholesale publication markets, logistic companies and enterprises doing printing and copying business, destroyed 68 illicit lairs selling illegal audiovisual products, pirated books and software, removed 665 stalls, confiscated about 3,956,800 pieces of pirated and pornographic disks, books and software valued at 3,662,000 yuan, and transferred 11 cases to judicial organs.
