Chongqing: IP trainings to be delivered to over 5,000 practitioners

2012/05/15

In 2012, Chongqing plans to undertake trainings on intellectual property for over 5,000 practitioners as IP talents could barely meet the increasing service demand, reported by a journalist of Chongqing Daily on May 10.

"As the cultivation of IP talents has long been overlooked, only about 2,000 IP talents are in place in our city now, falling short of demand and anticipation," said an official from the municipal Intellectual Property Office.

"Generally speaking, the proportion of IP talents to researchers and technicians should reach 2% to 4%. However, such ratio in Chongqing is less than 1%", he added.

With the further implementation of national IP strategies, Chongqing will need more and more IP professionals year by year. In response to this scenario, local authorities plan to conduct 20-odd IP trainings for more than 5,000 participants this year.
