On the occasion of the 12th World Intellectual Property Day on April 26, Hainan Provincial Intellectual Property Office joined efforts with its local subordinates to conduct all manner of activities to publicize intellectual property protection from April 20 to 26. During this IP Publicity Week, significant achievements were made as follows.

The provincial IP office successfully conducted a picture exhibition of patent fruits as the opening of the Publicity Week and inaugurated a patent agency based in Haikou by the Patent Department of the State Intellectual Property Office. It also reported the progress made in IP creation, utilization, protection and administration on a special page of Hainan Daily. In addition, it hosted an award ceremony of the competition on inventions and innovations by academies in the province and convened workshops on patent development. Moreover, in collaboration with provincial authorities including the public security organ, the administration for industry and commerce and the courts, the provincial IP Office undertook a large-scale IP dissemination activity and displayed over 20 boards on more than 20 IP fruits in industries such as biomedicine, pharmaceutics, new energy, environment protection, new information technology, modern agriculture, energy saving, marine and aquatic as well as new materials. During the week, the office received consultations from 400 person-times and distributed more than 3,000 leaflets on IP-related contents.

To mark the World Intellectual Property Day, Sanya City conducted an exhibition on patent fruits at a local square, displaying 30 pictures, hanging 50 banners and 10 boards and distributing 300 leaflets. On April 20, local authorities organized a symposium where the city's IP pilot enterprises and high-tech entities discussed on future IP development and protection.

In response to the Publicity Week, other cities including Haikou, Ding'an, Wuzhishan and Dongfang all followed suit.

On the whole, the activities conducted in the Publicity Week featured careful arrangement and extensive disseminations. In May, the provincial IP Office will join hands with relevant authorities to further conduct IP disseminations across the province.
