The State Intellectual Property Office has released the list of the first batch of national IPR demonstration cities. Wuhu is selected as one of the only two IPR demonstration cities among all the central and western non-capital cities.
It took over ten years to develop IPR pilot cities, covering cities in 29 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities). The fact that Wuhu is officially selected as an IPR demonstration city will play an active role in our efforts to implement the innovation-driven strategy, strengthen IPR creation and utilization, enhance IPR comprehensive ability and further explore how IPR support innovation and development.
IPR is not only the core strategic resource in promoting innovation and enhanceing regional economic sustainable development but also an important indicator of local economic development. Economic development can not be separated from innovation. With the ever-changing science and technology and the vigorous development of economic globalization, regional integration process continues to accelerate. As a legal system protecting intellectual achievements, IPR plays a large part in inspiring creation, regulating competition and adjusting the distribution of benefits. In recent years, in order to enhance the capability of independent innovation, Wuhu has strengthened measures to implement the plan and made breakthroughs in IPR work. Last year, patent applications and effective invention patents per 10,000 people kept the leading position in the province.
Meanwhile, we also have to take a clear understanding on the gap between Wuhu and other cities. To promote IPR into a new development level, specific measures are needed to be strengthened.
To integrate the nurturing of intellectual property and industrial transformation and upgrading;
To enhance regional core competitiveness by actively cultivating the advantages of industry convergent areas;
To form a market-oriented research and development mechanism by by integrating production, study,and research; and
To further highlight the status of corporate entities by conscientiously implementing incentive policies so as to make more "Created in Wuhu".
