Fujian: Xiamen takes steps to further combat IPR violations and counterfeiting

2012/05/09

Recently, Xiamen government formulated and released the Opinion on further combating IPR violations and manufacturing and sales of counterfeit and shoddy commodities (hereinafter referred to as the Opinion).

The Opinion said that cracking down upon infringements and counterfeiting is a long, complicated and arduous task which needs significant efforts of all related departments.

It is also necessary to form a leading group to guide the tackling process.

Governments at district level should undertake responsibilities to address the existing problems; all law enforcement agencies are urged to take specific measures to strengthen supervision.

Meanwhile, relevant departments are required to reinforce enforcement, increase criminal and judicial penalties, establish cross-departmental coordination system, promote the supervision effort of the public, undertake IP dissemination and facilitate international and national cooperation and communication.

The Opinion has also provided policy support in intensifying IP protection and forming a working structure where the combating campaign is directed by the municipal government, undertaken by all district governments and conducted by all stakeholders.
