The newly amended Protection Provisions on Patent Right in Sichuan Province was put into effect on May 1, 2012, adding 16 new articles.
Stronger legal protection on patent right was reportedly required by the new Provisions, in which the responsibilities of various departments in patent protection at exhibitions were clearly defined.
In addition, penalties against infringements and patent counterfeiting were duly clarified.
The coordination of the mediation of patent dispute and the judicial ruling was appropriately enhanced so that stakeholders could apply for judicial confirmation of the signed mediation agreement.
The Provisions was also meant to stop the misuse of the patent right, which was already written into Article 40.
