Guizhou: Trademark applications reached 8,625, up 43.39%

Guizhou Provincial Administration for Industry and Commerce released an "annual report of Guizhou on trademark development in 2011" on April 24. The report shows last year saw an  increase of 43.39% in trademark applications with 8,625. Guiyang city, Zunyi city, Qiannan prefecture, Anshun city and Qiandongnan prefecture ranked top 5. 

Applications in the above five areas accounted for 79.52% of the total. The province added 4 Chinese well-known trademarks, with the total recording 28. Guiyang and Zunyi contributed 75% of Chinese well-known trademarks, with Guiyang alone accounting for 46% in this regard. As of December 2011, valid famous trademarks in Guizhou reached 521 and registered trademarks amounted to 5,518. Guiyang, Zunyi, Anshun, Qiandongnan and Liupanshui ranked top 5. 

In addition, judged from the registered trademarks between 2010 and 2011, traditional industries still make up a major part of Guizhou economy. Wine, tea, agricultural products and catering industries ranked top 4.
