On April 21, the activities of 2012 IP Publicity Week in Chongqing were jointly organized by 32 departments including local government and the Municipal Intellectual Property Office to mark the up-coming 12th World Intellectual Property Day under the theme "Harnessing IP strategies for economic development transformation", aiming to increase the IP awareness of the public and creating a fair environment for economic development.
As one of the largest pharmaceutical enterprises in China, Taiji Group has attained over 100 patents with its patented products taking up 1% of the total in terms of product varieties. Those patented products have been seen to generate 65% of the revenues in sales, contributing up to 90% of the gross profits.
In addition, the Intelligent Drive Technology Research Center affiliated to Southwest University has signed a 12 million yuan worth of technology transfer contract with some big company in Shanghai.
According to latest statistics, invention patents per 10,000 local residents reached 1.65, up 51% and climbing from the 12th place to the 9th nationwide. Its growth rate ranked the 1st in western China and the 3rd across the country.
The number of Chinese Well-known Trademarks and Geographical Indications owned by Chongqing ranked the 2nd in western China and the 5th across the country respectively.
Intellectual property has played a significant role in promoting technological innovations, stimulating creations and inventions, allocating resources, stepping up economic transformation and safeguarding fair market competition.
