China and the USA should strengthen cooperation on IPR protection, said Deputy China International Trade Representative of the Ministry of Commerce Chong Quan on 2012 Ambassador's Roundtable on IPR Protection.
The rapid development of Internet technology in information age makes Internet economy become the new growth point for the world economy. While the spread of Internet accelerated the integration and transmission of information and saved social trading cost, it also became a continuing challenge for IPR protection, said Chong.
Chong said although the rapid development of the Internet brought a challenge to the construction of law, China's law construction generally caught up with Internet development instead of lagging behind. "In the 30 years since the reform and opening up, China has achieved great results in the construction of IPR law and regulations. Administrative law enforcement and judicial protection are being strengthened. Public awareness on IPR has been obviously enhanced," said Chong.
As for the China-US cooperation in intellectual property filed, Chong said the rapid development of the Internet has brought great challenges to all countries of the world. China and the United States as the world's largest developing and developed countries have a common interest in encouraging innovation and protecting intellectual property.
"Equality and respect are the basis for both parties to carry out cooperation: the win-win is the source to advance cooperation; comprehensive listening and rational analysis are important guarantee of the healthy development of the Sino-US cooperation," said Chong.
Chong pointed out that the two countries have different historical and cultural traditions, but also lie at different stages of economic development. How to seek scientific and effective solutions to balance the rights and obligations, the protection of private rights and public interest is a long-term discussion topic.
