According to the Industrial and Commercial Bureau of Shijiazhuang, Hubei Province, the city's administrations for industry and commerce will carry out a trademark promotion activity from April 15 to June 15 to help rural residents and enterprises improve the capability of trademark registration, use, management and protection through interviews and visits. The administrations will also help to guide the register of geographical indication (GI) trademarks for agricultural products. So far, "Jinzhou pear" and "Lingshou enoki mushroom" are under application of that specialty tags.
As introduced by Zhao Yumin, Division Chief of Trademark Advertising Supervision and Management Office of Shijiazhuang Industrial and Commercial Bureau, in this activity, administrations for industry and commerce will help rural residents and enterprises to get a clear understanding of the process and other specific issues related to the application, registration and enforcement of trademarks and will also rectify illegal use of trademark during the campaign.
When visiting rural households, enforcement officers shall focus on the misuse of trademarks, such as unauthorized changing of registered trademarks, unlawful modification of trademark registrants, addresses or other registered items, irregular transferring of registered trademarks and non-use of trademarks for 3 years, guide enterprises to enforce trademarks legally and apply for renewal and change of information before registration bodies in time, and help to combat counterfeits and protect trademarks. "We'll guide qualified enterprises to register well-known trademarks." said Zhao Yumin.
According to Zhao, there are more than 2,000 registered trademarks for agricultural products and 46 well-known agricultural trademarks in Shijiazhuang. Administrations for industry and commerce have specified 8 major vegetable bases and 16 kinds of featured fruits to provide priority aid to propel brand-oriented agriculture. "As for featured industries, we will guide them to register GI trademarks and regulate the use of them, so as to further increase the value added of local featured agricultural products."
