According to an IPR work meeting of Anhui Province, in 2011, there were 48,556 patent applications filed in Anhui Province, ranking 8th around the state. 32,681 filings were granted, ranking 7th nationwide, with a year-on-year growth;of 104.1%, ranking the 1st place among all the counterparts across the country.

Among all the patent applications, 10,982 were for invention patent, exceeding 10 thousand for the first time, increasing by 71.1% year on year, ranking 1st over the country. 2,026 filings were granted for invention patent, ranking 4th in China, up 82.4%, ranking 1st among the counterparts across the country.

In recent years, economy has been developing fast in Anhui. Local enterprises, as they grow stronger, now place growing emphasis on patent application and gradually become major contributors to patent applications. In 2011, Cherry Automobile Co.Ltd. filed 1,165 patent applications and 721 invention patent applications, Hefei Royalstar Refrigerator Ltd. filed 1,105 patent applications and 485 invention patent applications, which made the 2 companies the first batch of enterprises owning more than 1 thousand patents.[Chinese version is available on sipo.gov.cn]
