2012/02/24

Patent filings and grants hit 77,955 and 40,888 in 2011, up 36.1% and 22% respectively; filings for invention patents took up nearly 60% therein, making Beijing enjoy the finest patent structure in the country, reported from a working conference recently held in Beijing Intellectual Property Office. The city’s living patents recorded 52,522, namely 26.8 among every ten thousand people, also ranking first nationwide in this regard.

According to an official of the authority, Beijing further carried out the municipal IP strategy last year and released a specific plan to promote the strategy. The Office, working with several other organizations such as Zhongguancun Administrative Committee and Zhongguancun Development Group, had established a government-led enterprise dedicated to intellectual property commercialization, the first of its kind across the country.

In 2012, Beijing will enhance IPR-related services and supports especially for micro, small and medium-sized companies to assure the driving force of intellectual property in their development, said the city’s deputy mayor Hong Feng.
