Hebei: Gold for cerebral circulation drug

Li Changchun, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China, went to the National Agricultural Exhibition Center on February 14 to visit an achievement exhibition on China's achievements regarding the productive protection of intangible cultural heritages (ICH).

Shijiazhuang-based CSPC NBP Pharmaceutical Co Ltd recently received a gold prize at the China Patent Awards for the nation's first home-developed drug to increase cerebral blood circulation. 

Its process for making soft capsules with the compound butylphthalide - first extracted from water dropwort seeds found in South China - has also been granted patents in 86 countries. 

It became the first Hebei company to win gold at the China Patent Awards.
