Wuhua District of Kunming city, Anning city, Hongtashan District of Yuxi city and Wenshan city, which were listed as pilot counties (municipalities or autonomous regions) implementing the projects of the national IP strong county three years ago, incorporated IP into every aspect of economic development. These localities made breakthroughs in IP creation, utilization, protection and administration. A group of indigenous enterprises and industries promoted the local economic development.
From 2009 to October 2011, Wuhua District recorded 2,985 patent grants from 4,468 patent applications, both ranking 1st in Kunming. In Wuhua industrial park, technology-based SMEs own over 300 patents and 80% of patents get utilized. 90% of hi-tech companies hold indigenous IP.
In Anning, 128 patents have been put into effect and 7 kinds of patented products realize industrialization with a sales income increasing by 50.5% annually.
Hongta District has initially formed industry groups of cigarettes, new materials and new bio-pharmaceuticals with IP advantages.
In Wenshan, "文山三七" held by Yunnan Wenshan Qidan Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was identified as Chinese Well-Known Trademark. [Chinese version is available on Yunnan Daily]
