Fujian holds meeting on press and publication (copyrights)

On February 3, Fujian held a meeting on press and publication (copyrights) work in Fuzhou. Vice President of CPPCC Fujian Provincial Committee and Director of Fujian Provincial Press and Publication Department Guo Zhenjia presented and addressed the meeting.

The meeting put forward that in 2012, the press and publication work in the province should concentrate on the “eight programs” to push cultural development and prosperity.

According to incomplete statistics, the operating income generated by press and publication industry was about 61.8 billion yuan with a growth of 15.3%; the added value was some 13.1 billion yuan, rising by 15%. Fujian also positively pushed publishing enterprises to diversify their business. In 2011, Fujian Daily Group newly developed one kind of newspaper and one type of journal, resulting in 11 kinds of newspaper and 11 types of journals in the province. Fujian also opened Taiwan compatriot public service hot line and propelled implementation programs including Wuyishan (Xiamei) cultural tourism program. Strait Publishing Group has occupied over 50% of mainstream teaching material market and firstly put digital publications. The two groups jointly set up strait cultural industry investment fund and strait cultural property trade office, setting a platform to integrate cultural industry resource.

Meanwhile, Fujian energetically pushed the change of development mode. Last year, 11 programs from the province were selected as press and publication reform and development programs of the General Administration of Press and Publication, and 30 projects were determined as Fujian provincial cultural industry key projects. 185 kinds of books across the province won 197 awards at or above provincial level, and 7 kinds of books was named the selected original works in the Mainland China book campaign “three one-hundred”.
