In 2011, Wuhan Customs organized a series of special campaigns to crack down on smuggling firearms and ammunition, second-hand textile equipment and narcotics by mail or shipping, which effectively safeguarded Hubei's economic order and development environment.
Particularly, Wuhan Customs filed 2 criminal cases valued at 28 million yuan, involving 4.3 million yuan worth of taxes; investigated 69 administrative cases valued at 240 million yuan, involving 9.4 million yuan; and confiscated 5.23 million yuan worth of goods. In addition, the Customs strengthened IPR protection and detected 31 IPR infringement cases valued at 474 thousand yuan.
In 2012, Wuhan Customs will strengthen tax collection and administration, further standardize tax-related businesses, fully enforce import classification clearance and open "green track" for export, said Chief of Wuhan Customs Zhang Zhizhou, the Customs will also improve the long-term mechanism for IPR customs protection, support the exportation of indigenous brands and technology and actively advance the work of tax refund at port of departure".
