Patent applications in general and those exclusively filed for invention both hit record high in 2011 in Xiangyang, exceeding the quota requirement assigned by Hubei provincial IP office, as revealed in the statistics released by the municipal office on January 12.
In 2011, patent filings in Xiangyang hit above 4,000 for the first time, reaching 4,470, of which, applications for invention exceeded 1,000, topping 1,107. The total filings have ranked second for two consecutive years, both following Wuhan. Patent grants in 2011 were 1,253.
