Commerce Minister Chen Deming said on the National Commercial Working Conference of January 6 that the Ministry of Commerce will coordinate with the members of the leading group of the National Campaign against IPR Infringement and Counterfeiting to rectify key fields quarterly, further combine administrative law enforcement with criminal justice and establish a working site against IPR infringement and counterfeiting so as to adopt a highhanded policy.

On October 2010, the country launched a crackdown on IPR infringement and manufacturing and selling of counterfeit and shoddy goods. The special campaign improved market environment, raised the society's awareness on IPR protection and protected innovative enthusiasm, according to Minister Chen.

Chen said the establishment of a creative and responsible country needs IPR protection. The Party Central Committee attaches much attention to this cause. The State Council has set up a leading group led by Vice Premier Wang Qishan. 29 members of the leading group will rectify key fields quarterly and supervise the resolution of major cases.

In 2011, the State Council issued the Opinions on Further Improving the Work of Combating Counterfeiting, which clearly list anti-counterfeiting in the appraisal of government at various levels.

During the special action, authorities filed 156 thousand cases involving 3.43 billion yuan and destroyed 9,135 illegal sites, initially curbing infringement and counterfeiting.
