Tianjin: Five-year plan calls for more patents

2012/01/06

The city's intellectual property (IP) office has released its new five-year plan (2011-2015) that sets a target of an increase in patents to 9 per 10,000 people in 2015, up from the 5.1 in 2010.

The blueprint also envisions patent applications will reach 50,000 in 2015, nearly half of which are expected to be granted.

The office will focus on developing internationally influential brands as well as increasing the number of patent applications in competitive and strategic emerging industries such as petrochemical engineering, textiles, aerospace and high-end equipment manufacturing.
